SEKQLD 2016 kicks off in style with official test

The SEKQLD 2016 Season is now officially underway, with the SEKQLD Official Test Day being held at the weekend in Warwick. With sixteen karts on show, and over forty people in attendance, the result was an engaging day of on-track action, as teams tried to find every advantage ahead of the series' first round in March.

The event, an annual fixture of the SEKQLD Season, was an opportunity for endurance karting teams new and old to test their equipment ahead of what is sure to be a gruelling Endurance Karting Season. And in first for the club, SEKQLD opened the invitation to the Lakeside Kart Club for their competitors to come out and meet their fellow four-strok kartes and share in the fun.

Previous iterations of the event had seen a non-championship 3 hour race being run, however the 2016 edition was geared more towards acquainting new teams and drivers with the sport, and featured series officials on hand to give assistance and advice to newcomers.

This didn't mean, however, that the competitve urges veteran racers in the series so often show weren't out in force.  indeed the field staged a number of mock battles throughout the course of the day, racing with such intensity that the uninitiated onlooker might have mistook the event for a real race.

Despite a torential downpour cutting proceedings short with an hour to go, the even is being hailed as a success by the SEKQLD committee.
